Dressing the Part

Individuals and Kids

Think Texture and Personality.  Bring everything; shoes, hats, tights, scarves, accessories.  We can piece outfits together.  I love bold colors and patterns.  Polka dots and stripes or things that make you think cheerful, happy, fun and youthful.   I love fabrics with lots of texture like sweaters, denim and knits.  Layers add interest and depth to an image so pair up short and long-sleeved shirts, wear a jacket, put leggings under skirts and dresses.  A simple look is great too.  Try a flowing white dress or a white t-shirt and jeans.  Please no logos or cartoon characters.

Maternity

Maternity clothing should be bold and fun!  Bring a colorful dress, a flowing skirt, jeans with a real waist and a brightly patterned top.  Simple works great here too; a solid colored tank top matched with a bold accessory.  Don’t forget a button down shirt.

Newborns & Babies

The littlest clients look best in nothing at all. I’ll bring a few blankets for newborns. For older babies, try cute clothes, sleepers or even a diaper with a simple and fun cover.  Plain white onesies are perfect for this occasion as well. To keep baby happy it is best to limit to one or two clothing changes.

Children

Your children change ever so quickly and you want to capture who they are right now because tomorrow they might be into something totally different.  Bring whatever interests your child the most; dinosaurs, a favorite blanket, books, trains, cars, dolls.  You name it.  My favorite; fun rain boots.

Seniors

Bring lots of clothes and accessories (even guys). We want edgy and hip fashion.  Hats, ties, jackets, funky jewelry, cool shoes, scarves all make for great options to add texture and color to any image.  Don’t forget to include any special interests that you have.  Bring a cap and gown, varsity jacket, sports uniform or sporting goods.  Girls fun shoes are a must!

Family and Couples

I know there’s so much more to you than khakis and a white dress shirt. You are unique individuals and the greatest part is, when you’re together in a single image you still blend as a family. For your session, everyone should be in the same style; all dressy or all casual.  Stick with similar or complimentary color tones and fabrics. Moms should stand out in a dress, skirt or fashionable jeans and yes…heels are fabulous. I like for the kids to have at least one part of their outfit reflect their personalities, like a hat or a fun t-shirt under a jacket or cool shoes.

Be you, be fun but most importantly be comfortable.
