A fellow photographer back in Heidelberg, Germany will be offering photography classes during the month of Arpil. There will be two seperate classes offered. The first class is for all camera owners who want to learn more about the art of photography. The second is for DSLR camera owners who like to learn more about how to use their camera. You may choose to take all of the classes or if there is a specific area that you would like to learn about you can also take the classes individually. If you are interested in attending or would like to obtain additional information please contact: cherishedkeepsakes@hotmail.com
You and Your Camera Classes
***These classes will start on March 31st and will be on Wednesdays at 9am. They can easily be taken individually. Payments are due 1 week in advance of class date.
***Each class will be focused on learning some of the basics of digital photography. These courses are for both the entry-level point and shoot user along with the bit more experienced users as well.
March 31st – Beginner’s Basics- $10:
This class will be a 90-minute session learning some of the very basics that you should remember when taking photos, such as: always checking your subject background, focal point/point of interest, different camera modes and when to use them, etc… This session will be held at the Heidelberg Castle.
April 7th – Rule of Thirds- $10:
This course will be 90-minutes and based on learning how to use the rule of thirds to compose your photos and make them more interesting and well-balanced to the viewer. This session will be held at the Schwetzingen Schloss. (There is a small euro fee to enter the Schloss, but I promise you won’t regret it because it’s gorgeous!).
April 14th and 21st – Elements of Composition- $25:
For this particular area, it will be a 2-session course, with each course being 90-minutes, in which we will learn about some of the basic elements of composition, such as: symmetry, patterns, textures, depth of field, framing, perspective, space, balance, color, and lines. The first session will be most likely at the Heidelberg Castle, and the second session will be in the surrounding downtown area.
April 28th – Manipulating Natural Light and Your Built-in Flash- $15:
This will be a 90-minute course on the basics of how to use natural light sources for lighting and diffuse your built-in flash in order to decrease its harshness, and also how to use fill flash when outdoors and in the bright sunlight (weather permitting). This session will be held at my home and surrounding outdoor areas.
DSLR Class Schedule
****Classes will be held on Thursday mornings at 9am and will last approximately 90 minutes. The costs will be $10/class session. You can either pay for the entire month in advance or pay for each individual class, but if paying individually you will need to make your payment at least a week before the class date. I highly recommend not missing any of the days within the month long period. Missing classes will have you very confused because each aspect builds upon another.
****Keep in mind that the elements in each class are things that will need to be practiced REPEATEDLY to learn the process efficiently, and it will take much more commitment to practicing and studying on your own than just the 90 minutes in each class to learn these skills effectively. The purpose of these classes is to help you learn the basic knowledge of how to use your camera in manual mode and give you the ability to start exploring the world of photography outside of “auto” settings.
***First class will be held on April 1st, and the entire set will end on May 6th.
April 1st – Learning basic terminology and how-to’s of everyone’s cameras, introduction to the exposure triangle, light metering, and some other aspects as well. Definitely bring your manual along with your camera, and paper/pen for note-taking along for this class! This initial class will be held at my home.
April 8th – Learning the basics of shutter speed. This session will be held at the Heidelberg Castle.
April 15th – Continuing to learn exposure through the use of aperture. This session will be held at the Schwetzingen Schloss. (There is a small euro fee to enter the Schloss, but I promise you won’t regret it because it’s gorgeous!)
April 22nd – Learning about ISO and some aspects of low-lighting situations. This session will be held in downtown Heidelberg.
April 29th – Integrating the use of shutter speed, aperture, and ISO together. This session will be held at Luisenpark in Mannheim. (There is a euro fee to enter the park, but yet another amazing place!)
May 6th – Learning about manual focal points, white balance setting, and additional helpful aspects to improve your photos. This session will be held at my home.
